You really can’t go wrong with a movie if it includes latex, leather, , riding crops, floggers, restraints, and a good helping of nudity. I still don’t have any intention of watching those 50 Shades flicks, however.
If you’re gonna make a movie about kink, this is the way to do it. It’s smart, funny, and it’s not demeaning to those in the kink community. Preaching to the Perverted depicts dungeons and parties and fetishes as events and things to be embraced and accepted by anyone, rather than insinuating that people who enjoy such things are freaks. And it does this without having the preachy feel of a movie that’s trying to push a message more than it’s trying to entertain an audience.
Peter (Christien Anholt) is tasked by some London elites to infiltrate the S&M scene and gather evidence to allow the authorities to prosecute and shutdown the fetish parties held by Tanya (Guinevere Turner), a dominatrix with a seemingly endless supply of male and female slaves at her disposal. Needless to say, Peter becomes ever more enamored with Tanya and her community.
There really aren’t many fetishes left out here. In no particular order, you’ll find: whipping, electrocution, paddling, age play, suspension, pony play (this scene is fucking hilarious), piercing, bondage, cages, and more. And despite the heavy dose of eroticism, Preaching to the Perverted is more of a comedy than anything else. It’s witty and fun, and, I imagine, actually appeals to a great many people outside the kink community.
