Other Side of the Box (ALTER)

ALTER is a great film company and YouTube channel to follow. Seriously, check it out. Other Side of the Box is a pretty damn creepy short film. Though, I have to ask, why did they not try to kill the thing coming out of the box?

Campfire Creepers: Skull of Sam

I couldn’t find the original version of this film. I’m assuming it’s on Vimeo or someplace like that. But this works. It’s pretty obvious right from the beginning that this movie is meant for virtual reality viewing. Similar to when you see a movie in 3-D, every scene of Campfire Creepers plays to the VR experience. Unfortunately, not much effort was put into actually making a good movie. Considering it stars Robert Englund and is directed by Alexandre Aja (High TensionThe Hills Have Eyes), the final product is very disappointing. But here it is:

Kookie

This is a creepy little short film; well shot and creative. My only issue with it is how the mother tucks in her frightened daughter. “You know where to find me.” That scene just isn’t indicative of how my parents treat their children. It feels awkward and makes you wonder if the writer/director, Justin Harding, has ever experienced parenthood, or even contemplated it. That scene aside, it’s a great short flick.

The Sky

I love all the short films you can watch on YouTube these days. They’re free and many of them are surprisingly well done, like The Sky, directed by Matt Sears. It’s a fun and thought-provoking little flick. There is a little hiccup with the CGI at the very end, but I’m just nitpicking.
