Not to be confused with the 1976 crocodile film of the same name, 1980’s Eaten Alive! is an Italian exploitation film featuring gore, cannibalism, nudity, and a religious cult. –This was my first published short story. It won first place in a fiction contest at Paris Junior College, for whatever that’s worth, and was subsequently published in Swingers of Birches, a university literary journal of sorts. The story was heavily inspired by my grandad, who I grew up fishing with on the banks of Lake Tawakoni. He’s 91 now and his fishing days are pretty much behind him, but he’ll always be a fisherman to me. I couldn’t find the original version of this film. I’m assuming it’s on Vimeo or someplace like that. But this works. It’s pretty obvious right from the beginning that this movie is meant for virtual reality viewing. Similar to when you see a movie in 3-D, every scene of Campfire Creepers plays to the VR experience. Unfortunately, not much effort was put into actually making a good movie. Considering it stars Robert Englund and is directed by Alexandre Aja (High Tension, The Hills Have Eyes), the final product is very disappointing. But here it is:
One of my go-to ways to waste time is to watch videos about missing people. The more perplexing the disappearance, the better. The Missing 411 documentaries are well made, captivating, and some of them are seriously bizarre. Some of the missing person cases in Missing 411: The Hunted will keep you lying awake at night trying to figure it all out.
