I’m not sure I’ve seen a film that made me utter “What the fuck?” more frequently than R100. Japan harbors some tricky filmmakers, let me tell you. In Audition, it seems like you’re in for a romantic comedy…until that burlap bag flips and the piano wire comes out and the guy’s leg gets sawed off. Well, with R100, you think you’re in for some kinky fun with a little comedy thrown in to keep it light. And that’s what you get for about half the film. Then it goes bonkers. Read more “R100 (2013)”

UFOs and Aliens (1999)
It’s an older documentary series, but still pretty good. I like how we hear from both ufologists and skeptics, something you don’t see anymore on shows like Ancient Aliens or UFO Files and the like. The arguments on both sides haven’t changed much over the last thirty years. I’d like to hear what skeptics say about the tick-tack UFO.

Shock Value (2014)
I’d been in a slump with my horror movie picks over the last week or two. Everything seemed to suck. Consider the slump over. Shock Value is what low budget horror and exploitation should strive to be. Read more “Shock Value (2014)”
Venus in Furs (1969)
Jess Franco may be one of the most prolific exploitation directors, but let’s not kid ourselves and pretend that makes him a great filmmaker. He had some good films, like Vampyros Lesbos, Exorcism, and She Killed in Ecstasy, but he also made a bunch of shit. Read more “Venus in Furs (1969)”
Mandy Morton and Spriguns–Witchfinder
This psychedelic tune is bizarrely mesmorizing.
Wes Craven’s New Nightmare (1994)
Wes Craven is one of the all-time great horror directors. His influence with films like The Last House on the Left, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and Scream is undeniable. That said, I can’t stand when directors, with their snooty perceived superiority, stick their names in the title of the movie. Read more “Wes Craven’s New Nightmare (1994)”

The Stuff (1985)
Cult classics don’t get much more cult classic than The Stuff, written and directed by the late great Larry Cohen. If George Romero thought he was calling attention to consumerism in Dawn of the Dead, he was massively outplayed by Cohen in this flick. Read more “The Stuff (1985)”
Bauhaus–Bela Lugosi’s Dead
Excellent gothic rock!
The Black Room (2017)
Petal and I settled onto the couch ready to see some hot demon sex, maybe even some softcore-horror porn type stuff. Read more “The Black Room (2017)”
